Working at Ghausia Homes

Supporting a 16 or 17 year old towards independence is ordinary work done extraordinarily well: cooking together, sitting through a difficult evening, turning up again the next day. This page describes the practice we expect of ourselves.

No vacancies advertised

Ghausia Homes is in development and is not currently advertising roles. Any vacancies will be published here, with the role, the hours and the pay stated openly in the advert.

Culture

Small teams, high standards, no pretending

We are building a service where staff know each young person as an individual, and where saying “I got that wrong” is treated as good practice rather than a problem.

In a small home, the quality of the service is the quality of the relationships in it. That means we care as much about how someone speaks to a young person at midnight as about what is written in a support plan.

Our values, and what each one looks like in practice, are set out on about Ghausia Homes.

Expected practice

What we will ask of anyone who works here

Safeguarding first, every time
Concerns are acted on, recorded and escalated properly. Nobody keeps a worry to themselves to avoid a difficult conversation.
Consistency
Young people who have been let down before need adults who do what they said they would, on an ordinary Tuesday as much as in a crisis.
Respect for identity and culture
Faith, language, food and community are part of everyday life here, not an add-on for a review meeting.
Teaching by doing
Cooking, budgeting, travel and appointments are learned alongside someone, not delivered as a session.
Honest recording and reporting
Write what happened, not what reads well. Professionals should never learn about a problem late.
Willingness to be supervised
Regular supervision, reflection and training are part of the job, and feedback is expected to travel in both directions.

All roles working with young people are subject to safer recruitment, including references and the relevant Disclosure and Barring Service checks.

If you would like to hear when we recruit

We are not collecting applications yet, and we would rather not hold your CV before there is a real role to consider it for.

A contact route will be published on our contact page before we recruit, and vacancies will appear on this page with full details.
